Summary

The Quality director directly leads the Quality team made up of Quality Technicians and Quality Engineering to ensure that Safe Flight consistently supplying high-quality products to its customers, mitigating corporate and customer risk, and removing defects and waste in our manufacturing processes.

Salary Range: $125,000 to $170,000. (Salary will be commensurate with experience)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop departmental strategy and vision to ensure alignment with company, corporate, and regulatory goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for end-to-end audit process (External, Internal), including acting as a point of contact for the certification bodies and auditors.
  • Ensure that the organization’s Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, AS/ISO, FAA and regulatory/legal requirements.
  • Staff, manage, motivate, mentor, and evaluate Quality Department employee performance.
  • Conduct and support process owners in ensuring that QMS risks are identified, regularly assessed, and appropriately mitigated, through KPI review and management collaboration. Develop, manage and oversee supplier quality assurance.
  • Reviewed Manufacturing Procedures (MP's) and applied lean manufacturing methods to increase efficiency, productivity, and overall quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain, to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage overall company Corrective Action processes and procedures including tracking and effective closure. Ensure accurate and prompt processing of purchasing/manufacturing work orders through the quality department.
  • Professionally represent the Quality Department in various business process activities including management reviews and continuing improvement.
  • Analyze data and make recommendations for equipment, process, and product improvements to management staff.
  • Communicate directly with customers and suppliers regarding quality requirements, flow downs, first article/approvals, performance trends, corrective action reports, and quality surveys.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • 10 years of quality leadership experience in electronics manufacturing including printed circuit board assembly, surface mount assembly technology, and electro-mechanical assembly.
  • Excellent strategic, interpersonal, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace, multi-tasking environment which requires the capability to determine, respond to, set, and balance priorities.
  • Confidence and ability to design solution strategies for complex problems with customers.
  • Ability of analyzing, explaining, and solving problems with minimal to no direction.
  • ISO9001/AS9100 Quality knowledge of standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Experience with lean 6-sigma concepts and processes (green/black belt preferred).
  • Epicor experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to develop, document, and execute detailed quality plans.
  • Strong root cause analysis techniques and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role is responsible for the overall supervision of the Quality department to support the achievement of the Company’s financial, customer satisfaction, and employee fulfillment goals.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of ten years of experience in a manufacturing organization; Minimum of 5 years of Quality experience; a master’s in business administration (MBA) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Quality experience in an electronic assembly/test environment is beneficial.
